Agnes Lillian Small, 94, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2026, in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on January 15, 1932, the beloved daughter of James and Marcella Brangers.
Agnes was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend who cherished her family and the time they spent together. She had a special gift for making holidays memorable, filling her home with beautiful decorations, especially at Christmas, when both the inside and outside of her home would reflect her love for the season. She treasured family gatherings, where she could share in lively conversations, enjoy the laughter of loved ones, and simply bask in the joy of being together.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Agnes was a dedicated Catholic and a founding member of St. Polycarp Catholic Church. When St. Polycarp merged with St. Peter the Apostle, she continued her faithful service to her church community. She was an active member of the Friendship Club, sang in the choir at St. Peter the Apostle, and devoted her time to helping others through Southwest Ministries. Her faith was an important part of her life, reflected in her commitment to her church and her willingness to serve those in need.
Outside of her church and family, Agnes enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She loved camping on her father's property in Rineyville, where she could enjoy the outdoors and make lasting memories. She also found joy in planting flowers in her garden, playing bingo, and spending time playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether tending to her flowers, celebrating the holidays, or sharing laughter around a game table, Agnes knew how to find happiness in life's everyday moments.
Agnes leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, generosity, and love. Her devotion to her church, her enthusiasm for family traditions, and the warmth she brought to every gathering will remain treasured memories for those fortunate enough to have known her. She had a way of bringing people together and making those around her feel the importance of family and togetherness.
Agnes will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created, the traditions she cherished, and the love she shared will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
