Arthur "Joe" Vincent Atkinson

Arthur Vincent "Joe" Atkinson, 63, of Springfield, Kentucky, passed away at his home on Monday, June 29, 2026.

Born on February 14, 1963, in Louisville, Kentucky, Joe was the son of Doris Atkinson. He was a gifted guitarist whose love of music brought joy to those around him. Joe approached life with a childlike spirit, a playful sense of humor, and a kind heart that made him easy to love and impossible to forget.

Family was the center of Joe's life. His greatest expression of love was the devoted care he gave to his mother during the final three years of her life, a reflection of his compassion, loyalty, and selflessness. He cherished the time he spent with his family and was deeply loved in return.

Joe will be remembered as a loving brother, devoted nephew, cherished cousin, and loyal friend. His gentle nature, infectious smile, and genuine love for others touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

He leaves behind a family who will forever treasure his life and legacy.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Atkinson Schmitz.

Left to cherish his memory, Joe is survived by his 2 brothers, Nathan Bryant and David Bryant; aunts, Norma Bryant and Carol Bolles (who has been a treasure and blessing to Joe and the whole Atkinson family; we give thanks for her heart); good friends, George Turner and his wife who helped Joe these last 2 years; cousin; Betsy (thank you for your heart and love); and a host of nephews and their children; and many cousins.

A funeral service for Mr. Arthur Atkinson will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
