Barbara Jean Baskerville

Oct 22, 1956 — Oct 11, 2026

Louisville, Kentucky

Barbara Jean Baskerville, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her family, passed away on October 11, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky, just eleven days before her 70th birthday. She was born on October 22, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, to James and Sarah Lewis. Barbara lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories, leaving a lasting impression on everyone blessed enough to know her.

Barbara was truly the life of the party. With her outgoing personality, down-to-earth nature, and infectious spirit, she had a special way of making people feel comfortable and putting a smile on anyone’s face. She could bring laughter into a room and make even the simplest moments memorable. Barbara was genuine, full of life, and never afraid to be herself. Her presence was a gift, and her ability to brighten someone’s day was one of the many things that made her so special.

Barbara dedicated 12 years of hard work and service to the Galt House as a housekeeper before retiring. She carried herself with humility and a strong work ethic, but her greatest pride and happiness came from the people she loved most—her family.

Family was Barbara’s whole world. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren, and she made sure they knew just how much they meant to her. She would often come over just to hang out with her children and grandchildren. It did not take a special occasion for Barbara to want to be around her loved ones; sometimes, all she needed was a little time together. Whether playing card games, watching movies, sharing snacks, or sitting around talking and laughing, those everyday moments meant everything to her.

Christmas and her birthday were Barbara’s favorite celebrations. She loved the excitement of the holidays and, most of all, the opportunity to gather with the people she loved. These occasions gave her a chance to make memories, share laughter, and enjoy the closeness of her family.

Barbara also loved taking trips and creating memories with her family. One of her favorite destinations was Holiday World. She absolutely loved it there! Those family trips held a special place in her heart and gave her stories and memories she treasured. She also enjoyed visiting the Kentucky State Fair, an outing that brought her plenty of happiness and excitement.

When Barbara was not spending time with family, she had a few favorite pastimes of her own. She loved playing bingo and enjoyed taking trips to the boat to try her luck at her favorite slot machines. She could spend the entire day enjoying herself, arriving as early as 7:30 in the morning and staying until midnight whenever she had the opportunity.

Barbara Jean Baskerville will be remembered for her loving heart, outgoing personality, playful spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was one of a kind, and the joy she brought into the lives of others can never be replaced.

Her presence will be deeply missed, her laughter will never be forgotten, and her love will remain in the hearts of her family forever.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, James Lewis and Sarah Hardin Lewis; and siblings, Mary Greater, Edna Lewis, and Carolyn Lewis.

Left to cherish her memory, Barbara is survived by her children, Debbie Pezzullo (Janson Honshell) and David Sheckles; grandchildren, Desiree Pezzullo, Timothy Whitlock, Kenneth “Shane” Hillard, Savannah Geary, and Jayden Geary; siblings, Catherine Combest (Jerry), James “Eddie” Lewis (Patty), Jerry Lewis (Vicki), and Betty Lewis; step-son, Austin Baskerville; brother-in-law, Mike Greater; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends.
