Barry Lee Benner, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Born on December 25, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky, Barry was the beloved son of the late Clifford and Marian Benner.
Barry was a devoted husband, a proud family man, and a loyal friend to many. Although he never had children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own, always offering them his support, encouragement, and unconditional love. Family was the center of his life, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time talking, laughing, and making memories with those he loved.
Barry proudly served his country as a member of the United States National Guard and was a respected member of the Kentucky Bar Association. Throughout his life, he carried himself with integrity, dedication, and a deep sense of responsibility.
Known for his easygoing nature and wonderful sense of humor, Barry had a gift for making others smile. He loved joking around, sharing stories, and enjoying good conversation with family and friends. He and his beloved wife treasured their vacations to the beaches of Florida, where they made countless cherished memories together, and they also enjoyed trying their luck at the casinos. At home, Barry found satisfaction in "piddling" around the house, always finding something to fix, improve, or make just the way he wanted it.
Barry will be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, his unwavering love for his family, and the genuine joy he found in life's simple moments. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he leaves behind will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew and loved him.
Barry's legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.
Barry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Darlene “Tootie” Benner; siblings, Donald Benner, Patricia Gott, and Marlene “Sis” Jenkins; and his parents, Clifford Benner and Marian Zimmerer Benner.
Left to cherish his memory, Barry is survived by several nieces and nephews that he loved deeply.
Visitation for Mr. Barry Benner will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral home from 12 PM to 3 PM; with a graveside service beginning at 3 PM. Burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will follow the service.
