Betty Jayne Starks, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on June 10, 1933, in Russellville, Kentucky, the beloved daughter of Glenn and Aileen Barge.
Betty was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and sister. Family was the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with those she loved. She was always ready to welcome family and friends into her home, and no one ever left without being offered something to eat. She especially loved when family came to visit and cherished the memories made during those special times together.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Betty was very religious and faithfully read her Bible every day. She was a proud member of United Crescent Hills Ministries, where she devoted her time and heart to serving others through the Food Pantry. Her faith was reflected in the way she lived—loving, generous, welcoming, and caring toward everyone she met.
Betty was beautiful both inside and out. Her beautiful smile and infectious laugh could light up a room, and her warmth made everyone around her feel loved and welcomed. She had a gift for making lasting memories, particularly with her family. Among her favorite adventures were traveling and camping, and over the years she and her family visited 48 different states.
Betty leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, generosity, laughter, and cherished memories. Her presence brought joy to countless lives, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Dawson Starks; and her parents, Glenn Bill Barge and Aileen Remsen Barge.
