Carolyn Lee Tamas

July 9, 1944 — April 29, 2026

Louisville, Kentucky

Carolyn Martin Tamas, age 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on April 29, 2026. A proud Louisville native and fan of the Cardinals, she carried her hometown pride with her everywhere she went.

She is survived by her daughters, their spouses, and countless family members. She also leaves behind many friends who she cherished deeply.

She was the beloved mother of Emily and Rebecca. And she loved their spouses, Regina and Ken, as though they were her own. She was known as “Cool Aunt C” to three generations of “young’uns” whom she loved deeply. She was always up for a good time, a good joke, and a good song. She was a friend to everyone she met, accepting all. She always managed to see the best in others. Her decades-long friendships stand as a testament to her warmth, humor, and heart.

As a keen business entrepreneur, Carolyn founded and grew Hall Security Services— a remarkable achievement in the male-dominated industry of the 70's/80's. The success of the company provided work to nearly every family member at one time or another. It also allowed her to travel, send her daughters to college, and retire early, giving her more time to enjoy life and to generously help others.

In her final days, she was surrounded by the same love she had given to others her whole life. Carolyn’s laughter, generosity, and spirit remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

Carolyn was quick to share wisdom and life lessons to her daughters and family. We leave you with one of our favorites: “Never walk downstairs with your hands in your pockets.”

As mentioned before, Carolyn loved a good time. She equally loathed sadness. Therefore, per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. We will be scheduling a party to celebrate her soon. Raise your glass high and in salute to Carolyn.
