Clifton Bobby Gene Pettyjohn

Clifton “Bobby” Gene Pettyjohn, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at his home in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born on April 26, 1942, in Liberty, Kentucky, the beloved son of Auda and Rose Pettyjohn.

Bobby was a loving husband, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army, where he served as a medic. Following his military service, Bobby went on to work for GE, where he dedicated 31 years of his life before retiring.

Bobby was a true busy bee and a meticulous man who was always finding something to do. He was especially handy around the house and took pride in keeping things just right. He was a bit of a homebody, but he certainly enjoyed going out to eat. His favorite home-cooked meal was roast with carrots and potatoes.

Christmas was Bobby’s favorite holiday. He loved decorating his home and, most of all, gathering with his family. Those special moments surrounded by the people he loved brought him great joy.

Bobby had a lifelong love of Elvis Presley. He enjoyed listening to Elvis and collected so much Elvis memorabilia that he had amassed quite a home museum of treasured items. He also loved movies and enjoyed his collection of more than 1,000 films. Horror movies were his favorite, especially Halloween, Scream, and movies based on the works of Stephen King.

In his spare time, Bobby enjoyed playing cards with his family several days a week. Whether gathered around the card table, watching one of his favorite movies, listening to Elvis, or simply enjoying time at home, Bobby found happiness in the simple things and in the company of those he loved.

Bobby will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his attention to detail, his many interests, and the love he had for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bobby is preceded in death by his brother, Charles “Beaver” Pettyjohn; his parents, Auda Clifton Pettyjohn and Mabel Rose Walls Pettyjohn; and several aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish his memory, Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carol Pettyjohn; granddaughter, Jessica Pendleton (Derrick); siblings, Betty Rose Pettyjohn, Donald S. Pettyjohn (Wanda), and Jeffrey Lee Pendleton (Alice Mae); favorite uncle, Donald Walls (Betty); and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mr. Bobby Pettyjohn will be held at 1 PM on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 12 PM to 1 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial with military honors at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will follow the funeral service.
