WHITTAKER, DONALD R. SR., 71, of Shepherdsville, KY, was born September 17, 1938 to the late James E. and Mary L. Whittaker in Warren County, KY and returned to his Heavenly Father June 14, 2010.
Mr. Whittaker was a retired police officer for Shepherdsville Police Department and retired from the old International Harvester Company. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Shepherdsville Fire Department, member of Shively Masonic Lodge #951 F&AM, Shriner, Bullitt County Fraternal Order of Police and the Red Cross.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Donna Louise Curtsinger; sons, Donald Jr. (Carla), Scott Allen (Mary Beth), Terry Lee (Leigh), Brad Ashley (Christy) and Bryan Dale (Christy) Whittaker; grandchildren, Darrell, Stephanie, Russell, Derek Sr., Tia Whittaker, Justin Yeager, Charles (Joey) Schroeder, Abby, Alexandra and Madison Whittaker, Emily Curtsinger and Haylie Whittaker; honorary grandchildren, Whitney Peevler and Leah Plush; great-grandchildren, Axel Schultz and Derek Whittaker Jr.; several siblings, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Little Flock Baptist Church, 5500 N. Preston Hwy., Shepherdsville, with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Friends may pay their respects from 2-9 pm. Wednesday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks (Preston Highway at Brooks Road).
Expression of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Operation Santa through Hillview Police Department or to Kosair Charities of Louisville.
