Ellen Marie Friedrich, 84, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, in Bardwell, Kentucky. Born on March 17, 1941, to Ernest and Evelyn George, Ellen lived a full and beautiful life defined by love, hard work, and deep devotion to her family.
Ellen was the heart of her family — a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who gave endlessly of herself. Whether she was cleaning, organizing family trips, or hosting gatherings, she was always doing something with purpose and care. She was the kind of woman who was always put together, in both appearance and spirit, and she carried herself with grace and quiet strength.
She was a deeply caring and selfless woman who placed her family above all else. Her children and grandbabies were her pride and joy. Ellen loved traveling with her family — especially the yearly trips to Florida and the unforgettable vacation to Hawaii with her beloved husband, Robert.
Ellen and Robert shared many joyful years together, often seen dancing hand in hand or enjoying their favorite music. She had a playful spirit, always up for a game of cards, Yahtzee, or bingo. When she wasn't indoors playing games, she could often be found outside, practicing her impressive shot — a talent many may not have expected but one that defined her sharp and spirited nature.
A lifelong animal lover, Ellen was rarely without a loyal dog at her side. Her love for animals extended to her cherished collection of elephant figurines — a nod to her favorite animal, one that symbolized the strength, loyalty, and wisdom she herself embodied.
Ellen's absence leaves a deep void, but her love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Ellen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Robert Friedrich; children, Steve Friedrich, David Friedrich, and Sandra Goodman; and parents, Ernest and Evelyn George.
Left to cherish her memory, Ellen is survived by her children, Mark Friedrich and Martin Friedrich (Dawn); Grandchildren, Angie, Bryan, Kevin, Elizabeth, Aaron, Daniel, Jennifer, Ashley, Cassidy, Krystlyn, Maxwell, Kyrstin, Andrew, Kelsey, and Cameron; Many Great-Grandchildren; sister, Joy Lewis; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A private burial will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
