Elsie Carole Gibson

Elsie Carole Gibson, affectionately known by family and friends as Carole, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, in Clarksville, Indiana, at the age of 83.

Carole was born on March 18, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, to James and Elsie Mae Hardin. On August 19, 1960, Carole married the love of her life, Herman "Junior" Gibson, with whom she delighted in 57 years of marriage. They later moved to Greenville, Indiana, where they created a family and a lifetime of memories. She lived a life centered around the people she loved and leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and generosity.

Carole was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply. Being surrounded by family and friends was one of the greatest joys of her life. She had a special way of making people feel loved and welcomed, and she was a truly wonderful friend to so many.

Carole loved to talk—and anyone who knew her knows that she could turn a quick phone call into a conversation lasting two hours or more! Whether on the phone or sitting together in person, Carole enjoyed sharing stories, catching up, laughing, and simply spending time with the people she cared about. Her conversations were one of the many ways she made connections and let others know they mattered to her.

She also enjoyed playing bingo and crafting with her friends, where she could have fun, visit, and enjoy the company of those around her. Carole treasured friendship and never took for granted the simple moments spent together.

One of Carole's greatest gifts was her generous heart. She was an amazing gift giver who loved finding ways to give to others. She wanted to give whenever and however she could. For Carole, giving was never about how much something cost—it was about showing someone that she cared. Her generosity came from a heart that always wanted to help and bring joy to others.

Carole also enjoyed spending most weekends at Nolin Lake with her beloved husband, Junior, and her family. Together, they spent countless hours fishing, enjoying the beauty of nature, and making memories she treasured and carried throughout the entirety of her days. Those peaceful days by the lake were among the simple pleasures that brought Carole happiness.

Another special part of Carole's life was her love for her dogs. She loved having them around and found great joy and companionship in them. Her dogs were more than pets—they were beloved members of her life and brought her comfort, happiness, and plenty of love.

Carole will be missed deeply and remembered forever by those who knew and loved her.

Carole is preceded in death by her loving husband, Junior; parents, James Hardin and Elsie Mae Glur Hardin; and five siblings.

Left to cherish her memory, Carole is survived by her children, Richard “Rick” Gibson (Donna), Roger Gibson, Ronda Burrows (Billy), and Randy Gibson; grandchildren, Joshua, Andrea, Ryan, April, Courtney, and Jacob; many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and close friends.

A funeral service will be held for Mrs. Elsie Carole Gibson at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Louisville memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral services.
