HURTGEN, EVELYN ANN SMITH, 81, of Louisville, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at Baptist Hospital East.
Evelyn was a Louisville native and a proud graduate of Shawnee High School. She and her husband of 60 years opened their hearts, home and family to many. A faithful follower of Christ, she was a member of Christ Is King Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ernest and Ada Smith; her husband, Thomas Henry Hurtgen; a daughter, Phyllis Moser; a sister, Gladys Talley; and her brothers, Harold and Jack Smith.
Survivors include her children, Jeff Hurtgen (Mary), John Hurtgen (Pam), Anne Jones (Dennis), Susan Hurtgen, Thomas Hurtgen and Eileen Eigelbach (Kevin); sisters, Hazel Probst and Verna Ungvarsky; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 3800 Bardstown Road, with burial to follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday.
Donations may be sent to Christ Is King Baptist Church, 1147 E. Broadway, Louisville, KY 40204 in her memory.
