Helen Joyce Hawk, 87, passed away peacefully in Corydon, Indiana, on Saturday, September 14, 2025.
Helen was born on January 15, 1938, in Morganfield, Kentucky, to Grover and Lucille Rednour. A proud and loving woman, Helen lived a life full of laughter, devotion, and a spirit as strong as it was kind.
For 36 years, Helen was a steady and familiar face at Thelmal Lanes Bowling Alley, where she worked with dedication and heart. Outside of work, she was known for being the loudest and proudest mom at the ball fields — always cheering her boys on with unmatched enthusiasm and love.
Family was everything to Helen. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, their visits lighting up her world. She loved nothing more than a house full of noise, laughter, and love.
Helen had many passions — from playing card games like Rook and Rummy with friends and family to watching her favorite TV shows. She rarely missed an episode of Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Wheel of Fortune, or Jeopardy. And when the game was on, you could bet she was watching her beloved UofL Cardinals or Cincinnati Reds, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty.
She was a diehard Elvis Presley fan, her love for “The King” known by all who knew her. She also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers — a hobby that reflected her appreciation for life’s small joys. A trip to the casino boat or down to Tunica was always a welcome adventure for Helen, as she loved a little excitement and the thrill of playing the slot machines.
Helen was a simple lady who found happiness in life’s everyday moments, and she gave love freely to those around her. Her vibrant spirit, sharp wit, and endless love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Grover Rednour and Lucille VanCleave Rednour; and her brother, Gerald Rednour.
Left to cherish her memory, Helen is survived by her sons, Kevin Hawk (Lisa) and Chris Hawk (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Justin, Emily, Will, and Jessa; and a host of extended family and close friends.
She leaves behind a legacy of strength, warmth, and unwavering love — a life well-lived and forever remembered.
