James Edward Newton Jr.

December 30, 1962 — January 19, 2026

Brooksville, Florida

James “Jimmy” Edward Newton Jr., 63, passed away on January 19, 2026, in Brooksville, Florida.

Jimmy was born on December 30, 1962, in Louisville, Kentucky, to James Edwards Newton Sr. and Bobby Akridge. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, a chapter of his life he held with great honor and pride.

Following his military service, Jimmy found his calling as a landscaper—work he truly loved. Being outdoors made him happy, whether he was planting, fishing, hunting, or tending to flower gardens alongside his wife. His love for the sunshine and open air eventually led him to Florida, a place he adored so much that he made it his home.

Jimmy was known for his outgoing personality and gift of conversation. He never met a stranger and was always ready to share a story—or an opinion. While he could be stubborn at times, his big heart, loyalty, and deep love for his family defined him. He was a devoted family man who cherished his children and absolutely adored his grandchildren.

He also had a playful side that brought joy to everyone around him. Jimmy loved telling jokes—especially dad jokes—and had a knack for making people laugh. He even entertained family and friends by singing funny parody songs about everyday life, never missing a chance to turn a moment into a memory.

Jimmy will be remembered for his humor, his generosity, his love of the outdoors, and the way he made people feel welcomed and heard. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable stories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, James Edward Newton Sr.; mother, Bobby Akridge; and sister, Robin Moore.

Left to cherish his memory, Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Venita Newton; children, Erica Edds (Brent), Christopher Newton (Barbara), Jessica Newton, and Kimberly Schaad; grandchildren, Jacob Edds, Kylie Raby, Kinsley Raby, Jenna Edds, Zayn Krumenacker, and Sebastian Newton; siblings, Michael Newton (Karen), Joseph Newton, Teresa Yates (Ray), and Marsha Newton (Jenn); step-mom, Lisa Mae Newton; and a host of extended family and close friends.
