Jerry Dewayne Duncan, 68, of Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on November 13, 2025. Born on February 8, 1957, in Louisville to Delbert and Ruth Duncan, Jerry grew up surrounded by faith, family, and music—three passions that would define his life.
A devoted Christian, Jerry attended Shively Christian Church from a very young age, where his faith flourished and his musical gifts found a true home. A talented and versatile musician, Jerry could pick up nearly any instrument and make it sing. Among his favorites were the saxophone, keyboard, and bass guitar. Over the years, he played in several local bands—including Flipside, Better Days, and Phil in the Blanks—but none meant more to him than the Praise Band at church. For 20 years, Jerry poured his heart into worship through music, lifting spirits and touching lives with every note.
Music ran deep in the Duncan household. Jerry and his father often invited friends and family over for unforgettable jam sessions, filling the house with laughter, rhythm, and the joy of being together. Those moments became treasured memories, echoing the warmth and unity Jerry brought to everyone around him.
When he wasn’t playing music, Jerry found peace in the quiet simplicity of nature. He loved fishing at Waverly Lake and Cox’s Lake, where he could relax, reflect, and appreciate God’s creation. These moments of calm were as much a part of him as the vibrant energy he brought to his performances.
Jerry also had a playful, imaginative side. A proud Trekkie, he shared a special bond with his sisters, Donna and Karen, watching Star Trek movies and celebrating their love of all things sci-fi. Their time together was filled with laughter, curiosity, and the simple joy of exploring new worlds from the comfort of home.
Jerry is preceded in death by his nephew, Spencer Elswick; and his parents, Delbert Duncan and Ruth Hardin Duncan.
Left to cherish his memory, Jerry is survived by his sisters, Donna McGee (Eric) and Karen McDaniel; nephew, Jared Elswick (Brooke); niece, Olivia McDaniel; great-nieces, Sydney Covert and Teagan Covert; and a host of extended family and close friends.
Jerry’s life was a beautiful melody—full of faith, love, creativity, and kindness. His music, his stories, and his gentle spirit will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones and forever wrapped in the grace he cherished.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
