Joseph Lee Fryrear

April 25, 1955 — February 6, 2026

Louisville, KY

Joseph Lee Fryrear, 70, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on April 25, 1955, in Louisville, he was the beloved son of Everett and Ruth Fryrear.

Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, carrying with him a quiet strength and steady sense of duty that defined much of his life. He was a man who often kept to himself, content to sit back, observe, and take it all in. Though soft-spoken, his presence was steady and meaningful to those around him.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Joseph’s family was the center of his world. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and found great joy in watching them grow and succeed. His love for them was evident in both word and deed.

Joseph dedicated many years of service as a groundskeeper for Norton Healthcare, where his strong work ethic and attention to detail were deeply valued. He took great pride in his work, a trait that extended to his own home, where he could often be found outside tending to his yard and keeping the grounds pristine.

In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed cheering on his beloved University of Louisville Cardinals basketball team, dining out at his favorite local restaurants, listening to music from the 1960s, and watching his favorite television show, M.A.S.H. These simple pleasures brought him comfort and happiness throughout his life.

Joseph will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His quiet strength, dedication to family, and steady presence leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Everett Fryrear and Ruth Koons Fryrear; 4 siblings, David Fryrear, Kenneth Eugene Fryrear, LeRoy Fryrear, and Anna “Ruthie” Smith.

Left to cherish his memory, Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Sandra “Kaye” Fryrear; 3 children, Jennifer McFall (Charles), Kimberly Henry, and Kelly Agee (Bryan); 6 grandchildren, Caycee McFall, Mason McFall, Ashley Blanford, Eric Blanford, David Bartley, and Bethany Lewis; 6 great-grandchildren, Dalton, Jackson, Vince, Alayah, Hailee, and Jordan; brother, Eddie Fryrear (Nancy); aunt, Lena Webb; cousin, Teri Stansbury; and a host of extended family and close friends.
