LEWIS, JOSEPH W. "JAYBIRD," 90 years young, of south Louisville, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011.
He was a native of Versailles, KY, retired from 35 years of service at South Central Bell, a member of New Heights Baptist Church, past master of Plumb Masonic Lodge #862 and was a World War II Army veteran also serving twice during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary Maxine Carver Lewis; and his three children, William Joseph (Jeannie), Charles Allen (Sharon) and Sally Lewis Osborn (Mark); five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Nunnelley Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd., with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, family request donations be sent to his church, 7315 New Cut Road Louisville, KY 40214.
