Laura Lee Reid

Feb 8, 1938 — Nov 4, 2026

Louisville, Kentucky

Laura Lee Jackson Reid was born on February 8, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Lou P. and Estella Jackson. She was the sixth of their children. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lou P. Jackson Jr. and Andrew Jackson; and sisters, Luella Norris, Lillian Price, and Shirley Glass. Her partner of 37 years, Ervin Foster.

At an early age, Laura accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Central Baptist Church.

Laura graduated from Louisville Central High School in 1956. She continued her education at Thomas Beauty College, where she earned her license as a beautician. She practiced her craft in several beauty salons and served as the resident beautician at Louisville Children's Center. From 1962 to 1964, she worked as a teacher's assistant at the YWCA. Her talents and strong work ethic led her to become a dietitian at Hazelwood Sanatorium before beginning a 35-year career with Frito-Lay, where she retired.

Laura married her high school sweetheart, Manfred G. Reid Sr. Their union of 14 years was blessed with two children, Manfred G. Reid Jr. and Angela Hollingsworth.

Laura found joy in bringing people together. She loved hosting family cookouts, dinners, holiday celebrations, and her memorable Mardi Gras parties. She also enjoyed visiting local casinos and sharing laughter and friendly competition during monthly Farkle games with her niece, Vickie.

In her later years, Laura found peace and comfort sitting on the glider on her front porch. From there, she watched the neighborhood come alive, greeting and chatting with neighbors near and far. She knew just about everyone on the street and often had a story to share about the people and activities around her.

On November 4, 2026, following several months of illness, Laura peacefully answered the Lord's call and entered eternal rest.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Manfred G. Reid Jr. (Kelly) and Angela Hollingsworth; five grandchildren, Charles Reid (LaTasha), Stefon Robinson (Andrea), Manfred Reid III, Jeremy Reid (Jazmine), and Kyra Reid; nine great-grandchildren, Kirsten Hodge-Reid, Casius Smith (Mya), JaRon Johnson, Charles Reid Jr., Shanyah Reid, Na'Lina Reid, Marley Reid, Josiah Reid, and Andrew Robinson; and three great-great-granddaughters.

She also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, including three special bonus daughters, Vickie, Barbara, and Kim.

Laura Lee Reid, affectionately known as Momma, Grandmaw, and Aunt Lah, will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Her love, laughter, and the countless memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a legacy that will live on for generations.
