Maria Beck

Maria Martinka Beck 8/4/1929 - 6/26/2026

Born in Budapest, Hungary to Eva (Sterba) and Stefan Martinka. She had one brother, Stefan Martinka, who was drafted into the army during WWII. Maria was held in a Natzi work camp during that same time. Once released, she met Stanley Beck, a US Army Aircore mechanic who was stationed in Germany. They married in 1948. In 1949, she had twin sons Thomas and James (Jim). They moved several times while Stanley was in the service before landing in Louisville KY, where she decided to stay put and finish raising the boys. She enjoyed trips to Austria and Germany, the good liquor chocolates, a whiskey in the am and a beer in the afternoon, Bingo and "her shows" (the soaps). She was never afraid to speak her mind. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

She is predeceased by Stanley and Jim. She leaves behind Thomas and his wife Debbie; daughter-in-law, JoAn Carroll Beck; granddaughter, Stephanie (Beck) Ordemann and her husband Paul; great-grandson Evan Ordemann. Also, Jim's wife Linda (Duggan) Beck, grand-children Staci (Beck) Derruisseaux & Rick Beck, and several great-grandchildren.
