Mary Martish Bledsoe

Mary Martish “Tish” Bledsoe, 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 13, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on January 8, 1928, in Russell County, Kentucky, Mary lived a life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and devotion to her family.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and outgoing personality touched the lives of all who knew her. She was born into humble beginnings and educated in a single-room schoolhouse on Melson Ridge.

Mary later married and had her first son, Elijah, in Adair County, Kentucky in 1954. She moved to Louisville, Kentucky in 1955, where she lived out the remainder of her full life. She had her second son, Donald, in 1956. Although she became a single parent in the early 1960s, she did not let this deter her from providing a full and bountiful life for herself and her sons.

Mary retired from Mother’s Cookies with a career lasting over 30 years. She spent most of her later years devoted to her family.

Mary is preceded in death by her mother and father, Lesby and Ezra Coffey, her four brothers, and a sister.

She leaves behind her two sons, Elijah (Beverly) and Donald (Connie), four grandchildren, Kem Ann (Michael) Mattingly, Sarah Prestina Bledsoe, Branden Allen Bledsoe (Becca) and Rachel Marie (Houston) Albritton, as well as nine great-grandchildren.

Although she is no longer with us, her incredible legacy and love live on in our hearts forever.

A funeral service for Ms. Mary Bledsoe will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 4 PM to 7 PM; and prior to the service beginning at 11 AM, at the funeral home. Private burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will follow the funeral ceremony.
