Mary Margaret Stiff

Oct 19, 1942 — Sep 6, 2026

Louisville, Kentucky

Mary Margaret Stiff, 83, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on October 19, 1942, the beloved daughter of John and Mattie Miller.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She had a creative spirit and a natural talent for decorating, and she found great joy in sewing and making things beautiful. She was also a woman who could do just about anything she put her mind to. Mary loved working on cars and was a true problem solver. She was never afraid to get elbow-deep in grease and oil and was happiest when she was figuring out how to fix something.

Above all, Mary loved people. She never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone around her feel welcome. She was often the life of the party, and people naturally gathered around her infectious personality, humor, and warmth. Her presence could light up a room, and she leaves behind countless memories of laughter, love, and good times shared with family and friends.

In her spare time, Mary enjoyed showing off her beloved 1966 GTO show car, attending the Street Rod Nationals, watching Hallmark movies, and searching for her favorite finds at Hobby Lobby. She took great pride in the things she loved and was always ready for her next adventure.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, John H. Miller and Mattie Murphy Miller; her first husband, Larry Stiff Sr.; her second husband, Donald E. Bensing; and her siblings, Jane Miller, Frank Miller, Bill Miller, Joe Miller, and Pat Miller.

Left to cherish her memory, Mary is survived by her son, Larry J. Stiff (Melanie); grandchildren, Mollie Meredith (Kenny) and Kyle Stiff (Jazmine); great-grandchildren, Emelia, Wyatt, Henry, and Evelyn; sisters-in-law, Debbie Miller, Harriet Miller, and Johnna Woods (Kenny); brothers-in-law, Byron Stiff (Debbie) and David Stiff (Lisa); as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary will be remembered for her creativity, independence, generosity, sense of humor, love of cars, and, most of all, her love for the people around her. She had a remarkable ability to bring people together and make them feel at home.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on through her family, the stories they share, and the many lives she touched throughout her 83 years.
