Michael Lloyd Patterson, 65, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on August 2, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky, Michael was the beloved son of Coleman “Buzzy” and Betty Jean Patterson. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy and pride.
Michael was a proud graduate of Western High School, Class of 1978. Throughout the years, he dedicated much of his time to coaching his children, supporting and encouraging them in all they pursued. As a grandfather, he loved spoiling and catering to his grandchildren, always making sure they felt loved and supported.
A devoted fan of the UK Wildcats, Michael could often be found cheering on his favorite team with enthusiasm and pride. In his spare time, he also enjoyed relaxing and watching some of his favorite shows and movies, including The Godfather, The Sopranos, Walker, Texas Ranger, and Matlock, among many others.
Michael will be remembered for his love of family, his caring heart, and the countless memories he created with those he loved most. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy and the love he shared will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Michael is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Patterson; brother, David Patterson; and his parents, Coleman “Buzzy” Sidwell Patterson and Betty Jean Allen Amburgey.
Left to cherish his memory, Michael is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathy Patterson; children, Josh Patterson and Dana Johnson (Nick); grandchildren, Brady, Cooper, Camden, Alex, and Korie; brother, Boe Patterson (Phyllis); and several nieces/nephews.
A funeral service for Mr. Michael Patterson will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 3 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.
