Clyde H. Coffey, 96, husband of the late Gladys “Peggie” Hobbs Coffey, died Sunday, April 28, 2019 at the Franciscan Health Care Centre in Louisville. He was born in Gastonia, N.C. August 8, 1922 the son of the late Edward I. & Connie L. Baker Coffey.
Clyde retired from General Electric after many years, was a World War II Army Air Corp Veteran, attended Little Flock Baptist Church and was a founding member of the Steel Guitar Club of Louisville having performed with Roy Acuff, Pee Wee King, Randy Atcher, Gene Autry and many others.
He leaves to cherish his memory, Daughters, Diana Lou McNeil and Donna Susan Cordero, sister, Ruth Dale Smith, grandchildren, Michelle & Maria Cordero, Daniel McNeil Jr. and Joe McNeil, great grandchildren, Justin Haycraft, Matthew McNeil and Nevaeh McNeil and great great grandchild, Nolan Haycraft. He was preceded in death by his brother, Don Coffey.
A service celebrating Clyde’s life will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Hwy. Visitation will be from 11 to 7 on Wednesday at the funeral home.
