Daniel Milton Kininmonth, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on January 16, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, to Milton and Virginia Kininmonth, Dan led a life defined by integrity, service, and deep devotion to his family, country, and career.
Dan was a loving husband, devoted brother, caring father, and cherished uncle. He touched many lives not only through his warm presence and quick intellect but through his selfless dedication to serving others. A proud veteran, Dan achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve JAG Corps, stationed in Louisville, Kentucky. His distinguished military service was matched by his stellar legal career.
An exceptional attorney, Dan began his federal career in the 1980s with the Louisville District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, serving in the Real Estate Division. He later continued his work at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where he became a respected expert in labor law. Colleagues knew him as one of the finest attorneys in the field—an unmatched legal researcher and writer, always thoroughly prepared for his hearings, and a thoughtful mentor to many. His work ethic and professionalism left an indelible mark on everyone he worked with.
Outside the office, Dan had a deep appreciation for music. He spent many joyful hours listening to his beloved Mary perform with the Louisville Orchestra and took great pleasure in singing with bands and in local venues. He was also a passionate animal lover, especially fond of his Yorkshire Terrier and Chihuahua, whom he cared for with great love and devotion.
Dan cherished time with his family, particularly the moments spent with his nieces and nephews at the Derby Dinner Playhouse. His honesty, intelligence, and kindness made him a constant source of wisdom and support to those fortunate enough to know him.
Daniel Milton Kininmonth will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his work, his generosity of spirit, and the quiet strength he brought to every aspect of his life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
