Born April 27, 1937, in New Albany, Indiana, Gerri was one of ten siblings. She helped care for her younger siblings and after high school became a wife, mother, and hardworking secretary. She later worked for Lorillard Tobacco Company, which took her from Louisville, Kentucky to Greensboro, North Carolina. At age 50, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a flight attendant, traveling the world to places like Japan, Russia, Turkey, and across Europe—always returning with stories and souvenirs for her family.
Gerri is survived by her children Tara, Alan, and Eric; grandchildren Kyle, Chase, Ryan, Rachel, Justin, Ashley, and Aren; great-grandchildren Zoe, Ava, Colette, Donald, Todd, Leighton, Luca, and Zara; and siblings Arnold, Betty, Keith, and Diana. She was predeceased by her parents Reva and Howard, her son Todd, and siblings Theresa, Judy, Fred, Tim, and Barbie.
After retiring, Gerri loved spending time with her growing family and was a devoted dog mom to her beloved boxers. In her later years, she bravely faced Alzheimer’s disease, eventually relocating to Majestic Care in Mason, Ohio to receive care while staying close to family. Despite the struggles and loss of memory, Gerri’s personality and ability to light up a room never disappeared.
Gerri was loving, outspoken, beautiful and fiercely loyal. She had bright red hair, blue eyes, and an infectious laugh. She had a strong faith and was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Greensboro, North Carolina when she was living there. She had a sharp sense of humor, a green thumb and a fearless spirit that will never be forgotten. She lived boldly, loved deeply, and leaves behind a legacy of strength, joy, and unwavering devotion to family.
