Johnny Dale Lasley, age 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on May 2, 1951, to Percy and Sylvia Lasley, Johnny was a lifelong resident of Louisville and a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Johnny's heart belonged to his family. He was a proud and devoted father who often spoke with deep pride about his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren — the legacy he cherished most in life. His love for his family was unwavering, and his presence will forever be felt in their lives.
A graduate of Butler High School, Johnny was a Track letterman and carried the spirit of a competitor and a team player throughout his life. He loved to drive and had an uncanny ability to navigate any road, always knowing the quickest way home or sometimes the slowest — long before GPS made it easy. His sense of direction was matched only by the strength of his character.
Johnny was a man of the land, finding peace and purpose in living off the grid. With his father, he built a home nestled deep in the woods — a place that reflected his values of self-sufficiency, simplicity, and connection to nature. He took pride in teaching his family how to garden and live off the land, passing down skills that will continue to serve generations to come.
He was, at heart, a good ol’ country boy — rugged, kind, and real. He deeply missed his mother, Sylvia, and never hid the fact that he was, in his own words, a “momma’s boy.” In his free time, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures: a cold beer, the sound of gunfire at in the woods with “My Buddy” Chris, and the laughter of family, his legacy, around him.
Johnny Dale Lasley will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love for those closest to him. His memory will forever live on in the stories told, the gardens grown, and the paths home that he helped light for others. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents, Percy Lasley and Sylvia Powell Lasley.
Left to cherish his memory, Johnny is survived by his 2 sons, Chris Lasley and Jeff Lasley (Amanada); 6 grandchildren, Chasity Childress (Jerry), Samantha Acree (Matt), Hayden Lasley, Noah Lasley, Sidney Lasley, and Wyatt Lasley; 7 great-grandchildren, JoLee, Nickles, Braydon, Kalani, Reagan, Cash, and Delilah; 1 sister, Jackie “Missy” Lenihan; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service will be held for Mr. Johnny Lasley will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow the funeral service.
