Joseph "Louie" Louis Elmore, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025, in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Born on October 9, 1946, to Francis and Mary Elmore, Louie lived a life defined by love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to his family and those around him.
A true caregiver at heart, Louie was the steady hand and warm soul his loved ones could always count on. He led with quiet courage and steadfast integrity, often putting the needs of others ahead of his own. His dry, witty sense of humor could light up a room, and his friendly nature meant he never met a stranger.
Louie was a proud and loyal fan of the University of Louisville Cardinals, cheering them on through every season. In his spare time, he found joy in traveling with his beloved Sharon to favorite destinations like Hawaii and Alaska, and in perfecting his woodworking craft. He especially looked forward to trips to Glendale for the Arts and Crafts Shows — always followed by a comforting meal at Cracker Barrel.
Louie was the heart of his family, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be remembered with the same love and care he gave to others every day.
Louie is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon Elmore; parents, Francis Edward Elmore and Mary Lillie Clark Elmore; and 4 siblings, Charles Edward Elmore, Mary Frances Lyons, Joseph Robert Elmore, and Mary Patricia Seger.
Left to cherish his memory, Louie is survived by his sister, Shirley Druien; nephew, David Lyons (Rita); sister-in-law, Joan Williams; several nieces/nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends.
