Leo Tom Lewis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend, passed away on May 7, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Sonora, Kentucky, to the late Herbert and Flodella.
Leo worked as a skilled welder at Henry Vogt Machine Company for an incredible 40 years, dedicating himself to his craft with unmatched commitment and pride. After retiring, he embraced a quiet and fulfilling life, one marked by simple joys and meaningful connections.
He loved spending time at O’Bryan’s Tavern with friends, enjoying a cold beer and good conversation. Leo also had a deep love for travel with his wife of over 40 years, Betty Lewis. Their favorite destination was Panama City Beach, though many fond memories were also made on camping trips and their unforgettable vacation to Hawaii.
In addition to his adventures, Leo was an avid reader and a die-hard University of Kentucky fan. Saturdays in the fall were often spent cheering on the Wildcats during football season, a tradition he rarely missed.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and his two sisters.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty Lewis; his daughter, Robin Kurth; and his bonus children, Julie Bennett (Mike), Cathy Smith (Robert), and Terry Lochner. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy.
His life was one of hard work, quiet strength, and heartfelt love. Leo will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
