Lila Mae White

Lila Mae White, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by love. Born on October 16, 1933, to Edgar and Lila Sykes in Louisville, Lila lived a life filled with quiet strength, heartfelt laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Lila’s greatest joy came from the family she cherished. Though shy with strangers, she radiated warmth, humor, and a spirited joy with those she held close. Her soft-spoken voice and sweet, gentle nature were matched by a sharp wit and a love for music and dance that lit up any room.

Lila enjoyed singing old gospel hymns, crafting, crocheting, and traveling to favorite destinations like Florida and Missouri. Her hobbies reflected her patient, caring soul and her deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

Her memory will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved her. In every song sung, every laugh shared, and every hand-stitched creation, her presence will continue to be felt.

Lila is preceded in death by 2 husbands, Paul White and Roy White; her parents, Edgar Lee Sykes and Lila Thompson Stoval; 3 siblings, Eldred, Wendell, and Gwen; and 1 grandson, Gary Lee Figg.

Left to cherish her memory, Lila is survived by her loving children, Terry White (Darlene), Denise Blake, Christy Lewis (Dude), and Ricky White (Lisa); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and close friends.

A funeral service for Mrs. Lila White will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 2 PM at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service. Burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will follow the service.
