Norma Jean Payne, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on January 19, 1930, to William and Bertha Beyrodt in Louisville, Kentucky.

Norma’s life was a testament to love, generosity, and joy. She was a cherished cousin, friend, and godmother, always a guiding light and motherly figure to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She possessed a vibrant, outgoing personality that made her a beloved presence at every gathering, whether she was square dancing with her friends or hosting a delightful dinner party.

Norma never met a stranger, and her open heart and willingness to help those she loved during their times of need were unmatched. To her, everyone was family. Her spirit of kindness and devotion made her a friend to all and a source of comfort to many.

She had a true passion for life—whether it was travelling, dancing, or enjoying good ol' dance music, Norma was always fully engaged, radiating joy wherever she went. Her warm, infectious laugh and her loving, caring nature will be missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

Her legacy of love, friendship, and devotion will continue to inspire and touch the hearts of all who were fortunate to have shared in her life.

Norma is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles E. Payne; parents, William C. and Bertha Beyrodt; and her special friend, Joe Hicks.

Left to cherish her memory, Norma is survived by cousin, Billie Waddell; 2nd cousin, Duane Waddell (Judy); 3rd cousins, Kyle Waddell (Michelle), Trevor Waddell, and Tucker Waddell; 3 God Children, Shelley Goodwin, Randall Hudson, and Randall Hudson Jr.; lifelong friends, Debbie Kiefer, Lila Kiefer (Chris), Jennifer Ray, Tammy Ray, Matthew Hicks, and Michael Hicks (Rhonda); and a host of close friends.

A funeral service for Ms. Norma Jean Payne will be held at 2 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 10 AM to 2 PM, at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will follow the funeral service.
