It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rachel Ann Scott, who left us peacefully on January 30, 2025, at the age of 91. Rachel was born on November 26, 1933, in Green County, Kentucky, to Murl Womack and Kathryn Bothe Womack, and she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Rachel was a vibrant, outgoing woman known for her feisty spirit and warm heart. She had a unique ability to make friends wherever she went, touching the lives of everyone she encountered. Above all, Rachel loved her family. Her daughters were her world, and her deep love for them was felt by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion to those she loved most.
A lover of puzzles, Rachel enjoyed spending her time doing crossword puzzles, reading, and staying sharp. Her love for games was evident in her fondness for dart ball, bingo, and bunco, where her competitive yet fun-loving nature shone through. Rachel also found joy in the small things, from trips to the Dollar Tree to watching game shows on the Game Show Network, a pastime that always brought a smile to her face.
One of Rachel’s greatest passions was traveling, and her favorite destination was Gatlinburg. The mountains, the sights, and the serenity of that place held a special place in her heart, and she visited as often as she could.
Rachel is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Ernest Scott; her parents, Murl Womack and Kathryn Bothe Milam; sister, Donna Summers; and son-in-law, Dwayne “Cotton” Walker.
Left to cherish her memory, Rachel is survived by 3 daughters, Kathy Walker, Brenda Luking (David), and Carlene Braun (Rick); 6 grandchildren, Shelly Walker, Elizabeth Shelburne (Stephen), Ben Luking (Maggie), Rebecca Rowan (Michael), Amanda Jeftinija (Duśan), and Adam Braun; 15 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Luke, Sarah, Hannah, Annabelle, Jacoby, Caroline, McKenzie, Amelia, Caleb, Connor, Mila, Emma, and Nikolas; 1 sister, Judy Nesbit; and a host of extended family and close friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Rachel will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her presence was a light in many lives, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
