Sally Edith Livers-Dobyns-Boness "Mawmaw", 81, peacefully joined her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 13, 2025. She was born on May 11, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky to Albert Livers and Sally (Higdon) Livers. She graduated from Mercy Academy. Sally later moved to her second home in Jacksonville, Florida to be closer to family. In addition to her full-time job as a loving mother, she worked at Ford Motor Co, Hazelwood Hospital, and in various positions with the U. S. Government, retiring from the IRS in Jacksonville, Florida. Sally is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Sally Livers; her husbands James Dobyns and Horst Boness; her son Joseph Dobyns; her brothers: Wilbur (Rose) Livers and David Keith Livers; and her brother-in-law Bill Forrester. Sally is survived by her sister Judy Forrester, her sister-in-law Linda Livers, her children Judith (Robert) Manning, Brian (Debbie) Dobyns, and Claudia (Jason) Shacklette; her grandchildren David, Heather (Greg), Jessica (Adam), Toni Jane, Kayci, Chase, Lindsey, and Ashley (Justine); great-grandchildren Brian Douglas, Nevaeh, Aaliyah, Hailey, Adam Jr., Ben, Mason, Madison, and Jaxson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Along with spending time with family and friends, Sally took pride in cooking, sewing, reading, gardening, and traveling to Europe with her sister, Judy, and husband, Horst. Coffee, Big Red sodas, beer with pizza, and sweets were among some of her favorite treats. Her highest purpose in life was leading others to Christ; she had a pure love for Jesus. Her heart was full of hospitality; Sally always opened her heart and door to anyone in need, offering a warm cooked meal and a hug. Sally was so proud to be a part of the Livers family. She was fun-loving, kind, and generous, known by many as "Silly Sally", keeping those around her laughing; her heart was always in Kentucky, no matter where she was. Active throughout her younger years, Sally loved hiking, swimming, square-dancing, karate and shopping (as noted by her young grandchildren saying "Shop, Mawmaw, shop!" when they passed stores together). Other memories that are cherished by her family and friends are of her being silly, sitting together around her kitchen table, tea parties, her cutoff shorts, and the special bond with her little man. Sally had a beautiful gift for music and mesmerized her children and grandchildren with the songs she performed on her accordion, as well as playing "The Boogie-Woogie" with her sister, Judy, on piano. We will greatly miss her smile, laugh and hugs; her wonderful home-cooked breakfasts: biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs, and piggies-in-a-blanket; and Christmas gatherings with family. She always ended her phone calls and visits by telling everyone "Jesus is in you." Sally led countless people to Jesus and will be missed dearly by her prayer partners. Her love for God and His word was strong and will continue to live on through the lives she touched.
