Wallace T. Dohn Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. A lifelong resident of Louisville, Wallace was born on December 4, 1937, to Edward and Ruth Dohn.
Wallace was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend whose warmth, humor, and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He worked as a dedicated line-worker at GE for 37 years, where his commitment and reliability earned the respect of his colleagues.
Known for his quick wit and a treasure trove of old-timey, humorous sayings, Wallace had a special gift for making people smile. Whether he was sharing a clever joke or offering a helping hand, his presence lit up every room.
In his spare time, Wallace found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was a longtime drag racer at Ohio Valley Raceway, where he fueled his passion for cars and speed. He loved mowing the grass, solving crossword puzzles, watching NASCAR, and spending time in his garage working on his beloved cars. Some of his favorite memories came from family trips to Myrtle Beach, a place close to his heart.
Wallace will be remembered not only for his humor and hobbies but also for the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the laughter he shared, the values he passed down, and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Wallace is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Patricia Dohn; parents, Edward Dohn and Ruth Blackwell Hill; and 3 daughters, Kimberly Ruth Leber, Christine Cary Duggins, and Rebecca Jean Schweinhart.
Left to cherish his memory, Wallace is survived by 2 children, Wallace “Junior” Dohn Jr., and Delores “Jill” Blair (Tom); 9 grandchildren, Chad Leber, Adam Leber, Kenny Leber (Megan), Lauren Wells (Tony), Cory Schweinhart (Ashley), Zach Blair, Patrick Blair, Cara Meiman (Zach), and Elliott Duggins; many great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Mr. Wallace Dohn Sr. will be held at 7 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home, prior to the funeral service.
