Sharon Lynn Purvis, 70, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on January 16, 1955, to Clarence and Mary Virginia Steinmetz, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Sharon was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend. Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
An outdoors enthusiast, Sharon loved her time at Nolin Lake where she enjoyed boating, fishing, and simply soaking in nature. She also found joy in the simple pleasures of life — playing bingo, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Her Christmas cookies were a cherished tradition, and she delighted in baking and sharing them with loved ones each holiday season.
Sharon had a vibrant personality — happy-go-lucky, unafraid to speak her mind, and always ready with a smile or a witty remark. In her quiet moments, she could be found watching her favorite Hallmark Channel shows, listening to country music — especially songs by Alex Miller — and enjoying the laughter and chaos that only a big, loving family can bring.
Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sharon is preceded in death by her loving husband, Rickie Purvis; parents, Clarence Steinmetz and Mary Virginia Allen Steinmetz; and a brother, Keith Steinmetz.
Left to cherish her memory, Sharon is survived by her 3 children, Lance Purvis, Travis Purvis (Sherri), and Nina Keeling (Glen); 7 grandchildren, Jonathan (Brooklynn), James, Aaron, Kevan, Emily, Kenzie, and Joshua; 3 great-grandchildren, Rowen, Avery, and Ellie Lynn; 2 siblings, David Steinmetz (Kari) and Johnny Steinmetz (Fran); sister-in-law, Debbie Steinmetz; and a host of extended family and close friends.
A funeral service for Mrs. Sharon Purvis will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 7 PM on Friday, September 19, 2025, and prior to the funeral service from 11 AM to 3 PM, at the funeral home. Private burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West will take place on Monday, September 22, 2025.
