Shelly Ann Doyle

Shelly Ann Doyle, 75, departed this life during the morning hours of Saturday, July 18, 2026 reaching respite from an arduous duel with dementia. She passed peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her own home in Louisville, Kentucky where she had reared two generations of family for forty years. Shelly was born on Monday, September 4, 1950, in Coxs Creek, Kentucky, a daughter to Joseph Bert Lee and Nettie Mae Downs. 

She graduated in 1969 from duPont Manual High School aspiring to be a flight attendant. She married the love of her life, Larry Phillip Doyle, on Thursday, May 7, 1970. Soon thereafter blessed by motherhood, she labored in admissions for many local hospitals until retiring from a taxing second shift at Baptist Hospital East in 2013. Outside her work, Shelly unwound at her lakeside home and partied with her girlfriends - Linda and Cathy Miller, Marsha Neumann, and the Debbies Hardin and Krekel. She hiked with Tasha, danced to Tim Krekel, and drank at Bunco. She loved watching Castle, collecting dolphin knickknacks, and cooking homemade dumplings. Yet, she treasured her family above all else, innervating us with her passion for life, cloaking us in her caring warmth, and gifting us her unconditional devotion. Her love lifted all into the synesthesia of a sunrise. 

Shelly was preceded in death both by her parents and her husband, as well as her daughter Pamela Jean Harper, her younger sister Patricia Louise Roberts, and her dear friend Lester Orville Lawson, Jr. She is survived by her son Gregory Phillip Doyle; her four grandchildren, Cameron Michael Hayes, Hannah Mae Tomaszewski, and Kaitlyn Nicole and Logan Phillip Doyle; her older sister Fran Unthank; her brother-in-law Elvis Doyle; her son-in-law James Edward Harper; and her countless cherished nieces and nephews. 

A wake celebrating Shelly’s life will be held from 12 PM until 4 PM on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West (4400 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40216). Flowers in memoriam are welcome.
