Thomas Losure Burchett

Dec 26, 1935 — Jun 25, 2026

Louisville

Thomas Losure "Tom" Burchett, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 25, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Born on December 26, 1935, in Jamestown, Kentucky, Tom lived a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and unwavering convictions. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a loyal friend to many.

Tom was known for his larger-than-life personality and infectious sense of humor. He loved to laugh, was quite a ham, and never missed an opportunity to entertain others with stories from his life—often adding a few extra details to make them even better. Outgoing and friendly, Tom never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome.

He enjoyed keeping up with current events and politics, faithfully watching Fox News and proudly supporting President Donald Trump's leadership. Tom viewed life with simple, steadfast principles. His favorite saying, "Right is right and wrong is wrong," reflected the values by which he lived every day.

An avid traveler, Tom enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Barren River Lake, and Lake Cumberland, among many other destinations. Some of his happiest moments were spent near the water, whether fishing, camping, or simply enjoying the peaceful outdoors. He also loved listening to classic country music, especially Roy Rogers and Conway Twitty, playing poker with family and friends, and tending to his garden, where he found great peace and satisfaction.

Tom's legacy is one of love, laughter, strength, and devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Though his presence will be profoundly missed, the laughter he shared, the stories he told, the lessons he imparted, and the love he gave will remain in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved son, Michael Burchett; his brothers, Ralph Burchett and Eldon Burchett; and his parents, Velmar Burchett and Audrey Lawless Burchett.

Left to cherish his memory, Tom is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Evelyn Burchett; children, Susie LaHue (Mark) and Tommy Burchett (Mary Ann); grandchildren, DJ Burchett (Melissa), Ashley Scott (TeeJae), Kyle LaHue, Josh Burchett, and Chris Burchett; and great-grandchildren, Kaylie Whitehouse (Mason), Kamden Scott, Kolton Scott, Landry Burchett, and Beau Burchett.
