Thomas "Tommy" Eugene Gray

Thomas Eugene Gray, age 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, in his hometown. He was born on May 1, 1937, in Louisville, Kentucky, to John Gray and Dorothy Gray Blanchard.

Thomas lived a full and colorful life, known for his strong work ethic and larger-than-life personality. Over the years, he wore many hats—from a professional window washer to a used car salesman—and proudly earned the affectionate title of “king of the flea market,” where he spent countless hours doing what he loved. No matter the role, Thomas approached life with determination, humor, and a gift for connecting with people.

A man of faith, Thomas attended Evangel Christian Church and found great comfort and joy in reading his Bible. His faith remained a guiding force throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Gray; his parents, John Gray and Dorothy Marquess Blanchard; three sisters, Patsy Smith, Linda Dupin, and Sarah Simpson; and one brother, Sam Kinman.

Left to cherish his memory, Thomas is survived by a loving family, including his five daughters; three sisters, Marcella Mattingly, Debbie Burgess (Walter), and Ellen Hanover (Ron); and two brothers, Joe Kinman (Polly) and John “Billy” Kinman (Kathy).

Thomas will be remembered for his resilience, his storytelling, his deep faith, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, at Louisville Memorial Gardens West, 4400 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky. Burial will follow the visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to your local church or to the American Cancer Society in honor of Thomas.
